This building is made from "Interstate Ironstone Matte" utility brick from Werden Buck Co., with water-repellent mortar. We used a utility brick and a 6" dry block behind the brick.
We used the water-repellent block to keep the walls waterproof. The wall top is covered with metal coping. The foundation and driveway are made of concrete, the roof is made of rubber, and the exterior uses bricks.
2456 W Cortez sits in a neighborhood known for classic Chicago charm mixed with newer, modern builds and an active local scene. It’s the kind of area where people actually spend time walking to coffee, restaurants, and everyday errands instead of driving everywhere.
The location scores very walkable with good transit, which is a strong selling point for buyers who want flexibility. You’re also within a walkable distance to the CTA Blue Line (Division stop), making commuting toward downtown and other neighborhoods straightforward.
Location is also close to major green space: Humboldt Park is a huge destination park (nearly 200 acres, lagoons/boathouse vibes), and Wicker Park offers another great option with playgrounds, gardens, a dog-friendly area, and sports courts.
